The Philadelphia Phillies (31-36) dropped their second consecutive game to the Toronto Blue Jays (33-32), after blowing an eighth inning lead, and being outlasted in extra innings.
Cliff Lee (ND, 3.48 ERA) pitched turned in a terrific seven-inning performance before running into trouble in the eight, when he allowed the first three batters to reach base, before being pulled. He was also the victim of a Jimmy Rollins throwing error, causing two of his five runs allowed to be unearned.
Joe Savery – who took the mound in the 10th inning – was pinned with his second loss of the season, after allowing one hit, one walk and the game-winning run – an RBI single off the bat of Jays outfielder Rajai Davis.
The Phils will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday.
