2012 U.S. Open Leaderboard: Jim Furyk Leads Field Around Turn

Jim Furyk still leads the field at the 2012 U.S. Open through nine holes Sunday, though a charging Webb Simpson has made things interesting. Furyk is 1-over on the day coming around the turn, and even overall. He holds a one stroke lead over Simpson, who has now birdied four of his last six holes through 11.

Furyk, a West Chester, PA, native, has just one blemish on the day, a bogey on No. 6. There are several birdie opportunities on the back nine, at least relative to the front, so he can still expand his lead. He birdied No. 11 and No. 17 on Saturday. Simpson was 2-over through his first five holes Sunday before turning up the pressure.

John Peterson and Michael Thompson are just two shots off the lead. Thompson shot 3-under Sunday to put himself in a position to win the U.S. Open from the clubhouse with some help from the two men ahead of him. Peterson is 1-under Sunday with three holes still to play.
