The favorites going in are no surprise to anyone. Maria Sharapova is the No. 1 seed on the women's side. She's looking to win her second major in a row after taking care of business in the French Open.

For the men, Novak Djokovic is the top-seeded player and is once again looking to assert his dominance. Djokovic spent years in the shadows of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, but has finally turned the tables in recent times.

On a local note, Varvana Lepchenko is taking on Patricia Mayr-Achleitner in the first round. Lepchenko is an Allentown, PA resident.
