Philadelphia Phillies Roster Moves 2012: Brian Schneider (Ankle) Placed On 15-Day DL, Erik Kratz Recalled

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed catcher Brian Schneider on the 15-day disabled list and recalled catcher Erik Kratz from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, the team announced on Monday prior to opening a four-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Schneider started the second leg of Sunday's doubleheader with the Tampa Bay Rays, but left in the sixth inning with a sprained ankle. The 35-year old is batting .232 with two home runs and five RBI over 26 appearances this season with the Phillies.

Kratz, 32, has made five appearances with the Phillies this season, with one hit in four at-bats. He has spent considerably more time this season with Lehigh Valley, batting .266 with eight home runs and 30 RBI over 37 games with the IronPigs.
