Wimbledon 2012 Scores And Results: Rafael Falls To Lukas Rosol In Stunning Upset

Rafael Nadal was stunned on Centre Court on Day 4 of the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon, losing in five sets, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, to Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic. Rosol is ranked No. 100-ranked player in the world, making him the lowest ranked player to ever defeat the Spanish champion at a Grand Slam tournament.

Otherwise, it was business as usual Thursday at the All England Club. Americans Mardy Fish and Andy Roddick both advanced. Fish is playing in his first Grand Slam tournament since the Australian Open after undergoing a May 23 procedure to correct his heart arrhythmia. He defeated James Ward in a thriller, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (10), 6-3. Roddick advanced to the third round, defeating Bjorn Phau, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.

On the women's side of the draw, Allentown, PA, resident Varvara Lepchenko scored a solid upset by defeating No. 31 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 7-6 (10), 6-4. No. 6 Serena Williams advanced easily over Melinda Czink of Hungaria, 6-1, 6-4. No. 2 Maria Sharapova won her continuation from Wednesday's match against Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova, 7-6 (10), 6-7 (10), 6-0.
