Ryan Howard Injury Update: Howard Starts At First Base In Rehab Assignment

Ryan Howard started a game at first base in his minor league rehab stint, according to a report from CSNPhilly.com. Howard hit and ran the bases on Thursday, and on Friday night was ready to start the game at first base. Comments from the Phillies star indicated he was progressing well:

"Getting back into the flow, getting back out there, it was a good start," Howard said. [...]

"Getting the read off the bat, being involved in double plays, that's all part of it. There were some foul balls and I was able to move laterally and get to some things. It felt good."

Howard began his minor league rehab assignment for the Lakewood BlueClaws on Thursday, starting as the DH. He expressed that he did not want to rush things, and is expected to return to the designated hitter position for Saturday's game.
