French Open 2012 Results: Maria Sharapova To Face Sara Errani In Final As Matchup Set

After Day 12 at the 2012 French Open, the Women's final is set between No. 2 seed Maria Sharapova and No. 21 seed Sara Errani.

Sharapova defeated the No. 4 seed Petra Kvitova, 6-3, 6-3, on Thursday. Errani took out the No. 6 seed Samantha Stosur, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.

Sharapova has played in nine French Opens but her best finish at Roland Garros was making the semifinals in 2007 and 2011. Sharapova dominated her matches to make the final in this year's tournament.

This will be the first major tournament final for Errani. In four previous trips to Roland Garros, Errani had never made it past the second round. During her run to this year's final she beat two higher-ranked seeds besides Stosur, No. 10 Angelique Kerber and No. 13 Ana Ivanovic.
