The Philadelphia Phillies received bad news about Freddy Galvis' injury on Friday night: he has a pars fracture in his back, according to Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Galvis had been placed on the disabled list earlier in the week with what was thought to be a lower back strain at the time.
However, this fracture in his back will now keep Galvis in a brace for six weeks, but there is no estimate yet on how long he will be out other than for those six weeks. He could possibly miss the remainder of the season.
Michael Martinez was called up to replace Galvis on the roster on Thursday. He appeared in Friday's game a late-inning replacement.
