Tour de France 2012: Thomas Voeckler Wins Stage 16, Bradley Wiggins Keeps Yellow Jersey

Thomas Voeckler won Stage 16 of the 2012 Tour de France on Wednesday. The win was the second of the Tour for Voeckler who also won Stage 10.

Voeckler finished the 122.4-mile stage from Pau to Bagnères-de-Luchon 1'40" ahead of Chris Anker Sørensen. Bradley Wiggins rode close to his competition for the overall lead and retained the yellow jersey. Wiggins is 2'05" ahead of Team Sky teammate Chris Froome.

Top American rider Tejay van Garderen is now sixth overall and 7'55" back of Wiggins. His BMC teammate Cadel Evans fell to seventh place. Van Garderen is still in first place in the young riders classification. He actually increased his lead over Thibault Pinot to 3'48" after Stage 16.
