Union Falls 1-0 To Aston Villa

The Philadelphia Union lost an international friendly match to Aston Villa, a visitor from the English Premier League, On Wednesday night at PPL Park by a final score of 1-0.

Aston Villa's Nathan Delfouneso scored the lone goal of the match. He hauled down a pass at the 43 minute mark, beating Zac MacMath to the far post to give the visitors a lead.

All told, it was a solid outing from the Union, who copped to holding back some of their top starters ahead of a weekend game against the New York Red Bulls.

This game was the first stop on a U.S. tour for the Aston Villa. Their roster included several notables from English striker Darren Bent to a pair of U.S. international players, Brad Guzan and Eric Lichaj.
