British Open 2012: Australia's Adam Scott Takes The Early Lead

The 2012 British open from Royal Lytham & St. Annes kicked off early this morning at approximately 1:19 a.m. EST. Because of the five hour time difference from the East coast, golf fans awoke to several players who have already or are close to completing the first of four rounds in the tournament.

Australian golfer Adam Scott is the early leader after shooting a six-under par, 64 on Thursday. American Paul Lawrie is right on his heels, tied for second place with Scotland's Paul Lawrie after shooting a five-under par, 65 in round one.

Tiger Woods, the favorite to win, is currently tied for sixth place through the first 16 holes as he's currently shooting three-under par.
