Team USA basketball defeated Great Britain, 118-78, at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on Thursday.
While Great Britain shot 52 percent from behind the arc (12-of-23), the USA was nearly able to match them (11-of-24) from deep range. What allowed this game to get out of hand was the turnover margin which led to fast break points. Great Britain was forced into 28 turnovers while the USA made just nine. Team USA had 34 fast break points to a mere seven for Team GB and the U.S. crushed their opponent with a 64-18 margin in points in the paint.
The USA was led in scoring by Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Nets guard Deron Williams who both had 19 points. Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala had seven points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 17 minutes. Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls led Great Britain with a game-high 25 points.
