Phillies-Giants Final Score: Philadelphia Falls In Extra Innings, 6-5

The Philadelphia Phillies fought valiantly, but ultimately fell short in 10 innings on Saturday 6-5 to the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park.

Cole Hamels wasn't his usual brilliant self, allowing five runs in 7.2 innings on three walks and 10 hits, including a trio of home runs. Despite being staked to a 5-4 lead in the eighth, Hamels couldn't pass the baton to Jonathan Papelbon before giving up a tying-home run to Melky Cabrera.

In the 10th, Gregor Blanco was able to provide a RBI bunt single, driving in the eventual game-winning run home in the form of Cabrera.

Surprisingly, Philadelphia was able to hit Matt Cain hard who surrendered five earned runs in eight innings on five hits including blasts by Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Hamels.

Buster Posey was the star of the afternoon, going 4-for-5 with three RBI including a two-run homer in the third inning.

On Sunday, the Phillies will look to avoid the sweep with Joe Blanton on the mound against Barry Zito.
