Phillies Vs. Braves Final Score: Cole Hamels Lasts Only 5 Innings In 6-1 Loss

The Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Atlanta Braves Friday night, opening their three game series with a 6-1 loss. Cole Hamels' first start since signing a six-year, $144 million contract was his shortest of the season, throwing 109 pitches and lasting only five innings. He gave up five runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking six.

The Philadelphia offense didn't offer much in support of Hamels, leaving 9 on base and going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Shane Victorino had the team's lone RBI, scoring Jimmy Rollins with a double on the second play of the game.

With the loss the Phillies fall to 45-55, ending a four game winning streak and failing to move out of last place in the NL East. They'll look to get back on the winning track on Saturday, when Game 2 is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
