Wimbledon Men's Final 2012 Results: Roger Federer Beats Andy Murray To Collect 7th Wimbledon Championship

The 2012 Wimbledon Tournament concluded Sunday, as Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 to collect his 7th Wimbeldon crown. The victory helped Federer tie Pete Sampras' all-time mark of championships at the All England Club and added to his total of major championship -- which now sits at a record 17.

The runner-up, Murray, failed to become the first British-born player to win on the hometown grass surface in decades. However, his effort was rewarded with cheers from fans, who didn't see an historic upset but did see history. The support led to Murray breaking down during his runner-up speech and leaving the court with a standing ovation.

On Monday, Federer will regain the world's No. 1 ranking, a title he hasn't held since June of 2010.
