Team USA Wrestling: Jordan Burroughs Wins Gold In London

Jordan Burroughs was favored to win gold heading into the 2012 Olympics and he didn't disappoint. The 24-year-old captured the gold medal the men's 74kg wrestling competition Friday.

Burroughs defeated Sadegh Saeed Goudarzi of Iran in the gold medal match. The match lasted four minutes with Burroughs winning gold with a 3PO-0 win. The gold is Burroughs' first Olympic medal as he was making his Olympic debut in London. That doesn't, however, mean it will be his last medal.

Prior to the Olympics, Burroughs told the Philadelphia Daily News he had bigger goals than a single gold medal.

"A lot of guys get out of wrestling immediately after winning a gold medal. Every time another Olympics comes around, it's always a bunch of fresh faces. For me to win an Olympic gold and have a chance to win another would be huge for our sport. Hopefully it will put us back into the mainstream media. Wrestling is a great sport, and I just want the world and the country to know that."

Burroughs has lofty career aspirations, but he accomplished the first step with a gold medal in 2012.
