Philadelphia Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha was "knocked out" according to sources on the scene after a nasty collision with teammate Nate Allen at the teams' afternoon practice.
[update by JasonB, 08/13/12 5:23 PM EDT ] Nate Allen says that Asomugha was speaking after the hit, which would indicate that he did not lose consciousnesses as was earlier reported.
The collision happened as the two were both going for a pass intended for DeSean Jackson when they collided mid-air and hit the ground hard. Both players remained down, but Nate Allen got up first and has actually since returned to practice.
Asomugha, however, remained motionless for several minutes before finally standing up and being helped to the cart and taken to the locker room. The Eagles will update his injury after practice.
With 2nd year CB Curtis Marsh also banged up, Joselio Hanson has taken Asomugha's place on the outside with the first team. Nate Allen, as we mentioned earlier, did not leave the field and has resumed practice.
[update by JasonB, 08/13/12 5:15 PM EDT ] Eagles say Nnamdi has a lacerated lip and a sore neck. He is also undergoing the concussion tests that are protocol in this situation.
