Andy Reid confirmed today that rookie Nick Foles will be the Eagles #2 QB when the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Foxborough for preseason week 2 matchup with the New England Patriots.

With current backup Mike Kafka suffering a hand fracture, Foles will get a chance to build off his impressive debut against a better level of competition this week. Running with the threes against Pittsburgh last Thursday, Foles went 6-10 for 144 yards and a pair of TDs.

Andy Reid says he's impressed with the speed at which Foles is improving and picking up the playbook.

"I think what you look at with any rookie is, are they getting better every day," explained Reid. "He seems to be doing that and is more comfortable. We've got a load of plays in for him and he's able to recite those properly. Now it is just making sure he's got everybody down and that comes with reps but I would tell you we knew he was smart coming in and he hasn't disappointed us in that area. He's a pretty sharp kid, very diligent, works hard, and all of those things."

Foles strong play has also caught the eye of Eagles #1 Michael Vick.

"His poise has really impressed me, his decision making obviously, and he has a big time arm. I think Nick has all the ingredients to be a great quarterback in this league. It may take some time, it may not. He has all the intangibles of what it takes."

The rookie from Arizona says that the opportunity to run with the twos is a big one.

"It's a great opportunity just to go out there with the twos and get some reps," said Foles. "As far as playing against another team and playing against the Patriots, I can't wait to get out there and play against another opponent. We go against our defense every day in practice, so it's always nice to go out there and play against another team. I can't wait to get out there."

The Eagles will take on the Pats Monday, August 20th on Monday Night Football.
