Phillies Vs. Brewers Preview: Cole Hamels Looks To Extend Shutout Streak

Cole Hamels will go for a third straight complete game shutout on Saturday night in Milwaukee, looking to match the remarkable feat set by his pitching staff colleague Cliff Lee in 2011. Hamels has been dominant this month, breezing through two outings against the Marlins and Braves. He could very well be pitching his way into Cy Young contention, and while he claims he's simply trying to start win streaks, that has to be a motivating factor down a stretch run where the Phillies will be playing mostly for pride.

Opposing Hamels will be Mike Fiers, a relatively unknown pitcher who's working through his first full season in the bigs. Fiers has started 13 games this year and holds a 2.63 ERA. He was rocked in his last outing, giving up eight runs in just two innings in Colorado. He'll have a tall task facing the red hot Hamels, but a win would clinch the series for the Brewers.
