Placido Polanco will be activated from the Philadelphia Phillies' disabled list Monday, according to reports. The third baseman has missed nearly a month due to a back inflammation. To accommodate the move, the Phillies will option Hector Luna to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Manager Charlie Manuel indicated earlier this month that Polanco likely won't play every day once he enters the lineup again. Just how long the Phillies keep the kid gloves on for the 36-year-old remains to be seen. Polanco has struggled at the plate this year. He hit .255/.300/.328 prior to landing on the DL. He has 15 doubles and two home runs this season.
Luna hit .226/.273/.355 in his 62 at-bats with Philadelphia, with two doubles and two home runs. He has had a stronger season with Lehigh Valley, hitting .291/.338/.453.
