Constance Brunet, the mother of Philadelphia Flyers forward Danny Briere, passed away on Sunday night at the age of 60. Brunet had suffered a brain aneurysm and was being treated at a hospital in Hull, Quebec.
While Briere is one of the most popular players on the Flyers roster for his on-ice abilities, the team's alternate captain is also one of the team's most well liked players off the ice.
Here is what Travis Hughes of Broad Street Hockey had to say of his interactions with Briere over the years:
Danny is one of the nicest, most down-to-earth professional hockey players I've ever had the chance to meet, and that's saying something considering kindness is not abnormal amongst hockey people. I can only imagine he gets a good dose of his charm from his mother, and I think we can speak for all Flyers fans in passing along our condolences to Danny and his family.
