Jim Furyk of West Chester, Pennsylvania has finished his first day of The Barclays at even par. Furyk started the day well, finishing the front nine at 2-under. The back-nine was not as friendly, as Furyk lost two strokes to finish with an even 71. Sean O'Hair, also from West Chester, is currently tied with Furyk in 50th place. O'Hair also started the front nine better -- going out in 1-under -- before dropping back to even before the day was done.
Both the West Chester representatives are seven strokes off of leader Padraig Harrington, who finished the day with a 7-under 64. Tiger Woods joins Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson at 3-under and tied for 14th place.
The tournament is part of the FedEx Cup and is being played at New York's famous Bethpage Black course. Furyk. the 2010 Cup champion, started the day 17th in the FedEx standings.
