The Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake finished their match on Friday night deadlocked in a 0-0 stalemate at PPL Park, each garnering one point.
The game was a defensive struggle especially in the first half which only saw one shot on frame, courtesy of Real Salt Lake's Alvaro Saborio. Neither team could mount much of a challenge throughout the affair, with perhaps Union's best chances coming in the last 10 minutes of regulation time.
Brian Carroll was sent to the ground inside the box in the 81st minute, but no foul was whistled much to Philadelphia's dismay. Only a matter of moments later, it was RSL looking for the advantage but being turned away by Zac MacMath.
The Union is desperate for points as they currently rank eighth in the MLS' Eastern Conference with 25 points, 15 out of a playoff spot. Their next match will be on Aug 29 when the Columbus Crew come to town.
