The Philadelphia Eagles have announced their first round of cuts on Saturday afternoon after beating the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.
The players are as follows: Safeties Wade Bonner and Tom Nelson, defensive end Xavier Brown, receivers Brian Hernandez, Elvis Akpla, McKay Jacobson and Tiger Jones, tackle Thomas Welch, guard Alfred McCul and cornerback Kevin Thomas.
The Eagles aren't done with this grouping of releases however, with five more to come before Monday's deadline of 4 p.m. ET.

It's not surprising Philly would cut so many wide receivers considering the amount they had on the 90-man roster. With the numbers becoming a factor, Andy Reid and co. had to make some decisions.
The Eagles only have one more preseason game against the New York Jets before all of the roster moves will be made, whittling the team its final 53-man squad.
