2012 U.S. Open Tennis: Draw, Schedule, Preview, And More

Roger Federer is the top overall seed on the men's side at the 2012 U.S. Open. Serena Williams is fourth for the women. Play begins Monday, Aug. 27th.

Roger Federer is the top overall seed on the men's side as the 2012 U.S. Open begins Monday, Aug. 27th at Flushing Meadows Park in New York City. Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will be his top competition, as they are the second and third seeds. Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament with the same knee injury that forced him out of the Olympics.

John Isner is the top American seed at nine. 2002 champion Andy Roddick is seeded 20th, Mardy Fish is 23rd, while Sam Querrey is 27th.

Victoria Azarenka is at the top for the women, Maria Sharapova is third, and Wimbledon and Olympics champion Serena Williams is the fourth seed.

Varvara Lepchenko, who resides in Allentown, Penn., is the 31st seed and faces Mathilde Johansson in the first round. Julia Cohen of Philadelphia is unseeded and takes on Anastasia Rodionova.

1:00 p.m., Arthur Ashe Stadium: Andy Murray vs. Alex Bogomolov, Jr.

9:00 p.m., Arhur Ashe Stadium: Roger Federer vs. Donald Young
