Michael Vick says that he will be ready to go for the Philadelphia Eagles season opener against the Cleveland Browns despite suffering rib and thumb injuries that have kept him out of recent action. Vick returned to the field on Sunday night for the Eagles Flight Night open practice.
Vick and the Eagles' starters are not expected to play in the team's final preseason game this Thursday against the New York Jets. After Sunday night's practice however, Vick said he will be ready to go for the September 9th Week 1 game on the road against the Browns.
Vick was injured in a 27-17 Eagles' victory over the New England Patriots on August 20. He sat out the following preseason game with rookie Nick Foles taking the snaps under center.
Vick, who has had injury issues in the past, appeared in 13 games with the Eagles in 2011, the most he has played in his three seasons with the team. In 2011, Vick threw for 3,303 yards and 18 touchdowns as well as running for 589 yards and one score.
