Philadelphia native Julia Cohen was eliminated in the first round of the 2012 U.S. Open on Monday, when she fell to Australia's Anastasia Rodionova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Cohen was not pleased with her performance but looks forward to the future.

"It was my first time playing the U.S. Open and I was nervous, obviously," Cohen said. "It wasn't my best match, but I hope next time in a main draw of a Grand Slam I'll do better."
On Tuesday, second-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska advanced to the second round by defeating Nina Bratchikova in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Radwanska will face Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro in the second round.
In addition, Ana Ivanovic also advanced by defeating her opening round opponent Elina Svitolina, 6-3, 6-2.
