NFL Roster Cuts: Eagles To Cut Punter Mat McBriar, According To Agent

The Philadelphia Eagles will be releasing punter Mat McBriar, according to a tweet on Wednesday afternoon from his agent Jack Bechta. As of this time, McBriar has not yet been officially released by the team, which means the cut will likely be announced on Thursday.

McBriar signed with the Eagles this offseason after the Dallas Cowboys decided not to retain the 33-year-old's services. The Cowboys would have had to match a $300,000 offer in guaranteed money by the Eagles, had they chosen to retain McBriar.

With some time left before the start of the regular season, McBriar could sign with another team looking for a punter, which his agent believes will happen in the near future.

The move leaves second-year specialist Chas Henry as the lone punter on the Philadelphia roster. Henry averaged 42.9 yards per punt last season.
