NHL Announces Television Schedule; Flyers Appear Nationally 25 Times

The NHL released their schedule of nationally televised games Thursday. If there is no lockout come October, the Flyers will appear 25 times in the U.S. and 20 times in Canada.

The National Hockey League continued to toy with the heart strings of loyal fans Thursday when they released the schedule of nationally televised games in the United states, despite the looming clear and present danger of a lockout due to what appears to be gridlock in the ongoing Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be telecast 25 times nationally in the States on NBC, NBCSN (NBC Sports Network), and NHLN (NHL Network):

  • The season / home opener (if the season indeed gets under way on time) on October 11 against Boston, which is one of three nationally televised meetings with the Bruins. Included in these games is a home-and-home set on the last weekend in March.
  • Four matchups with the arch-rival Penguins, as well as five against the Rangers, and two with the Devils
  • The Flyers will only faceoff five times against Western Conference opponents on U.S. national games (Chicago twice, Anaheim, Detroit, and Calgary).

Additionally, games featuring the Orange-and-Black will be broadcast 20 times nationally across Canada on TSN, TSN2, CBC, and RDS:
