Team USA very nearly posted their first loss in the 2012 London Olympics, trailing in their match against Lithuania with less than seven minutes to go. It was LeBron James who came to the team's rescue, scoring nine points down the stretch to secure a 99-94 victory for the U.S.
Lithuania kept things close the entire game, and Team USA was ahead by only six heading in to the fourth quarter. Lithuania went on a 9-2 scoring run lead by Linas Kleiza, who sank a three pointer to give his squad the lead. They held on until 5:39 remained in the game, when Chris Paul hit a three-pointer to regain the lead and LeBron closed things out with another three and a dunk.
The 76ers' Andre Iguodala saw action in the game, but played only 2:30 and scored no points. Scoring for Team USA was led by James and Carmelo Anthony, both with 20 points. Kevin Durant was not far behind with 16 points, and Kevin Love led the team in boards, collecting eight rebounds.
Team USA is now 4-0 in Group A play. They next play Argentina, with that game scheduled for Monday, August 6.
