2012 Olympics: Jamie Gray Wins Gold Medal In Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions

Jamie Gray won the gold medal in the Women's 50-meter rifle 3 positions Saturday morning at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England.

Gray put on a dominating performance at the Royal Artillery Barracks, setting an Olympic Record with a final score of 691.9, more than four points ahead of silver medalist Ivana Maksimovic of Serbia who finished at 687.5. Adela Sykorova of the Czech Republic was awarded the bronze with a score of 683.0.

Gray entered the finals in first place, more than two points ahead of second place Maksimovic with a score of 592 , and slowly extended her lead over the ten shot final round. Gray capped off her performance with a 10.8, barely missing a perfect 10.9.

This is the first medal for the Lebanon, PA native in her second Olympic Games. Gray finished in fifth place in the same event at Beijing in 2008 and finished in fifth in the 10-meter air rifle earlier in the 2012 Olympic Games.
