One of the great moments of these 2012 London Olympic games was the vault performed by McKayla Maroney during the women's gymnastics team finals. Check it out if you haven't seen the vault that some have called the greatest ever.
If she replicates that vault ("Amanar" as she calls it) tonight as the individual event finals get underway, Maroney will surely be wearing her second gold of the games. Maroney, who is the reigning world champion in the event, will be the favorite with Romanian Sandra Izbasa also expected to medal.
Tonight is the first of three straight nights of individual gymnastic events and features the aforementioned women's vault as well the men's floor exercise and pommel horse. American Jake Dalton will compete in the floor exercise but the medal favorites are Zou Kai of China, all-around champion Kohei Uchimura of Japan and Denis Ablyazin of Russia.
Tomorrow night, women's all around champ Gabby Douglas will be back in action on the uneven bars, where she'll face the favored Russians Vicktora Komova and Aliya Mustafina. On Monday, Ali Raisman and Jordyn Weiber will compete in the balance beam and floor exercise finals.
The event finals begin at 9am eastern time and can be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com. However, they will also be shown as part of NBC's primetime coverage.
