The Philadelphia Eagles open preseason play on Thursday night with a cross-state competition against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unlike the typical preseason football game, this one figures to be an emotional affair for the Eagles who are still reeling from the loss of Garrett Reid. The eldest son of head coach Andy Reid, Garrett had been a fixture at Eagles camp until his sudden passing last weekend. Reid returned to the practice field on Wednesday and will coach the preseason opener.

On the field, the Eagles and Steelers have plenty of matchups to keep an eye on during the game. Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, the Eagles' first-round pick, could be seeing plenty of Pittsburgh's first round pick, offensive guard David DeCastro. Of course, the chance to see Michael Vick against Ben Roethlisberger is never a disappointment, even though neither quarterback will likely see much action in the preseason contest.

Game Date/Time: Thursday, August 9; 7:30 p.m. ET.

Location: Lincoln Financial Field; Philadelphia, Pa.

TV Schedule, National: None.

Local TV Distribution Map: The506.com

Radio Schedule: Sirius XM 94
