Late into the opening round of the PGA Championship, Westchester, Pa., native Jim Furyk is at even-par with a score of 72. A lot of golfers are right there with him, but just eight others who have finished the round are tied with Furyk for 49th place.
It was a slow start for Furyk, who bogeyed the second hole. But he eventually got into a rhythm with a birdie put on No. 4 and later on 10, 14 and 15 through the back nine. Like others, though, Furyk had trouble with the last few holes, as he double-bogeyed 16 and bogeyed 18.
Tiger Woods finished the day at 3-under with a score of 69. Defending champion Keegan Bradley finished at 4-under with a score of 68.
