Mardy Gilyard Tweets He's Back With The Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed wide receiver Mardy Gilyard Monday. Gilyard spent training camp with the Eagles and was released during the final roster cuts. He announced the move via his Twitter account.

Gilyard should add depth to an Eagles wide receiver group which is currently dealing with a rash of injuries. Riley Cooper remains out with a fractured collarbone he suffered during the preseason, while starting receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a hip flexor strain during the Eagles season opening win against the Browns.

Maclin was forced to leave the game for a time against Cleveland, leaving Philadelphia with three healthy wide receivers. Even though Maclin returned to the game, his status going forward is still unknown. Gilyard played in 11 games for the St. Louis Rams during the 2010 season, catching six passes for 63 yards. He played well for the Eagles during the preseason, catching nine passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
