The NFL's replacement officials had a rough go of things in Week 2. After an opening weekend where there wasn't too much to complain about, the replacement officials blew loads of calls and caused multiple delays in the second week of the season.
The weekend got underway with the NFL removing Brian Stropolo form his assignment on the sidelines of the Saints' game, as pictures surfaced of the replacement official in Saints gear. After the Eagles/Ravens game on Sunday, LeSean McCoy told WIP that one of the officials in that game had McCoy on his fantasy team. Via WIP:
I’ll be honest, they’re like fans. One of the refs was talking about his fantasy team, like ‘McCoy, come on, I need you for my fantasy'
There hasn't been much movement from the league on getting the real officials back to work, but more performances like we saw in Week 2 will have the subject receiving even more scrutiny. It looks like we'll still be seeing the replacements for Week 3, though.
