Eagles Vs Cardinals Final Score: Eagles Crushed In Arizona 27-6

New, 1 comment

The Eagles turnover issues finally came home to roost as they lost to the Cardinals 27-6 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

Much like the first two weeks, the Eagles turned the ball over 3 times, but unlike in those weeks the defense didn't force any turnovers of their own and didn't bail the offense out with big stops. Former Eagle Kevin Kolb had a big day with 2 TDs and 222 yards passing. Larry Fitzgerald was his primary target nabbing 9 passes for 114 yards and a TD.

The first culprit with turnovers today was not actually Michael Vick or the offense, rather it was rookie punt returner Damaris Johnson, who was stripped in the first quarter. 8 plays later the Cardinals were in the end zone.

The 2nd and 3rd turnovers were on Vick and the offense. Early in the 2nd quarter with the Eagles driving, Vick ran for a first down, but was stripped by Sam Acho on a play that originally had Vick down by contact. It was correctly overturned on review, but the Cardinals would fail to capitalize on the ensuing drive.

The next turnover was the dagger. Down 17-0 on the goal line with just 6 seconds left, Michael Vick was hit by a blind side blitzer, who forced a fumble that was picked up by James Sanders and returned 93 yards for a touchdown. The Eagles would never recover, adding just 2 FGs in the 3rd quarter.

The Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season and return home next week for massive game with the also 2-1 Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.
