Presswire

Big Ten conference play is set to begin next weekend, and while the most important games are yet to be played in 2012, we have learned a lot about the teams in the league. As for the hometown Penn State Nittany Lions, they are 2-2 despite having a depleted roster and new coaching staff. PSU is currently tied for last place with Illinois in the Leaders Division, although that will change as they take on the Illini next weekend.

In what has been somewhat of a surprise, Minnesota and Northwestern are tied for the Legends Division lead. Both teams are tied with perfect 4-0 records, although they have played pretty weak schedules. The Ohio State Buckeyes are the current leaders in the Leaders Division with a 4-0 mark - however, the Buckeyes are ineligible for postseason play this year. Wisconsin is right behind them at 3-1 this season.

Here is a complete look at the conference standings as of Monday, Sept. 24.
