The 2012 Ryder Cup begins Friday, Sept. 28, and the European team enters the tournament on a hot streak. Europe won the 2010 Ryder Cup and has won four of the last five Ryder Cups dating back to 2002.

The European team figures to be a strong contender again in 2012, with world No. 1 Rory McIlroy leading the way. McIlroy, who is coming off a second place finish in the FedEx Cup, is one of four players on the European team currently ranked in the top five of the world. No. 3 Luke Donald, No. 4 Lee Westwood and No. 5 Justin Rose are also on the European team.

Tiger Woods headlines the United States team, which is captained by Davis Love III. In addition to No. 2 Woods, No. 7 Bubba Watson and No. 9 Jason Dufner are the other United States members currently in the top-10 of the world rankings. West Chester, Pennsylvania native Jim Furyk will be making his eighth Ryder Cup appearance. Furyk made the team as one of Love's captain's picks.

The 2012 Ryder Cup will begin on Friday, Sept. 28. Day 1 will feature four foursome matches in the morning session and four fourball matches in the afternoon. Day 2 will be the same schedule as the first day, with the final day featuring 12 singles matches.
