Week 5 of the college football schedule will close the books on September and start the conference schedule for many teams around the country. The Penn State Nittany Lions will kick off Big Ten play with a trip to Champaign to face Illinois. This game should have plenty of off-the-field drama, as new Fighting Illini coach Tim Beckman took plenty of heat for his overly aggressive recruitment of PSU players after the NCAA handed down sanctions. Beckman reportedly sent a cadre of coaches to Happy Valley to try an steer them away and stay inside the conference. PSU is coming off two straight wins, while the Illini were blown out by Louisiana Tech in Week 4. A win would certainly be extra sweet for Bill O'Brien.
Temple, who lost in Happy Valley last week, will be idle. The complete Big Ten schedule for the final Saturday in September:
Penn State Nittany Lions at Illinois Fighting Illini (12 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
Indiana Hoosiers at Northwestern Wildcats (12 p.m. ET, BTN)
Minnesota Golden Gophers at Iowa Hawkeyes (12 p.m. ET, ESPN2)
Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan State Spartans (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC)
Wisconsin Badgers at Nebraska Cornhuskers (8:00 p.m. ET, ABC)
