Ryder Cup 2012 Day 1: TV coverage, tee times, matches and more

The first day of the 2012 Ryder Cup tees off on Friday morning as pairing match-ups are headlined by Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker taking on Ian Poulter and Justin Rose.

The 2012 Ryder Cup gets underway on Friday morning at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill., as the team of Americans will look to avenge their 14½-13½ loss to Team Europe in 2010.

In total, eight matches will take place on Friday, but only the four morning contests have scheduled participants at this point as the afternoon match-ups will be announced tomorrow.

For the first match, beginning at 8:20 a.m. ET, Team Europe will send the imposing pair of Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell to face Americans Jim Furyk, a Pennsylvania native, and Brandt Snedeker.

The second match tees off at 8:35 a.m. ET and features Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley for Team USA squaring off against Europeans Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia.

The American pair of Jason Dufner and Zach Johnson take on Lee Westwood and Francesco Molinari of Team Europe in the morning's third match, which is scheduled to begin at 8:50 a.m. ET.

In the morning's final match, Team USA's Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker and Europeans Ian Poulter and Justin Rose will look to end the first group of matches strong when they tee off at 9:05 a.m. ET.

Televised coverage will begin on ESPN at 8 a.m. ET and continue throughout the day's matches.
