The Philadelphia Phillies visit the Miami Marlins for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7:10 p.m. It will be a battle of talented lefties, as Cliff Lee faces Mark Buehrle.
Lee is 6-8 with a 3.18 ERA on the season. Lee has been lights-out in September, going 3-1 with a 0.99 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 36.1 innings pitched. He defeated the Marlins just two weeks ago, tossing seven innings while allowing just one unearned run and striking out six.
The veteran Buehrle is 13-13 with a 3.84 ERA in 2012. Buehrle has not fared as well as his counterpart in September, posting a 1-2 record, and a 5.20 ERA. He defeated Philadelphia back in August, pitching seven innings while allowing two runs on five hits.
This is the penultimate series of the season for the Phillies, who are all but eliminated from playoff contention. Philadelphia is six games out of the final Wild Card spot with six to play.
