Eagles Vs. Browns: CB Joe Haden Reportedly Suspended, Pending Appeal

The Philadelphia Eagles may catch a big break on Sunday, with Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden reportedly being suspended four games due to a banned substance.

Haden is by far the best cornerback on the team and would undoubtedly be matched up against DeSean Jackson. However, the Browns are confident the suspension won't take effect until after the season opener against the Eagles, according to northcoastnow.com.

"I suspect if we haven’t heard by now, that we’ll have him for the first game," Browns president Mike Holmgren said Tuesday morning in a radio interview on 92.3 The Fan. "But I don’t know for sure."

Cleveland already is missing three defensive starters in Phil Taylor, Emmanuel Acho and Chris Gocong, who were all placed on injured reserve before the season even started.

As pointed out over at Bleeding Green Nation, Haden missing the contest would be devastating for the Browns. In all likelihood, Dmitri Patterson would be going against Jackson in a match-up that would seem to favor Philadelphia.
