2012 U.S. Open Scores: Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka Move On

The women's side of the 2012 U.S. Open is down to two as Serena WIlliams and Victoria Azarenka won their semifinal matches on Friday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Azarenka will be appearing in her first-ever U.S. Open final, with Williams making her sixth appearance.

Williams continued her string of dominant victories during the tournament as she lost just three games in a straight-set victory over No. 10 Sara Errani. Serena set the tone with her serve, smashing nine aces and winning 92% of her first-serve points. Errani could only muster six winners for the entire match.

Azarenka was given all she could handle by No. 3 Maria Sharapova. Azarenka dropped the first set to Sharapova before recovering to win the second. The two women held serve in the third until Azarenka was able to break Sharapova at 5-4 to win the match. Sharapova struggled to win her service games for most of the day, largely because of her 42 unforced errors.

The men's doubles final was also held at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday and Americans Bob and Mike Ryan took the title. The second-seeded Bryan brothers defeated Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek in straight sets to take the championship.
