Ever since they advanced out of the First Four game against the Boise St. Broncos, the La Salle Explorers have won their NCAA Tournament games by just four combined points. Despite the victories being narrow, they were both big with upsets over the Kansas St. Wildcats and Ole Miss Rebels.
The second-lowest seeded team to advance to the Sweet 16, they're facing a team in the Wichita St. Shockers who scored a major upset in the third round with a win over the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs.
Senior guard Ramon Galloway's continued success will be big for the Explorers in their Sweet 16 tilt. Galloway's lowest scoring output in the tournament was 19 points against Kansas State in their second round game. Galloway was the team's leading scorer, averaging 17.4 points per game in the regular season.
The Shockers got a lot of points of the bench in their upset of Gonzaga with Cleanthony Early dropping 16 points and Fred Van Vleet knocked down 13 points. Early led the team in scoring during the regular season with 13.9 points per contest.
