Conference realignment has changed things, with no school being impacted more than Villanova. Now word comes that the seven Big East catholic schools -- Villanova, Georgetown, St. John's, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall and DePaul -- are discussing options related leaving the Big East and potentially joining the Atlantic 10 to form a 21-team basketball conference.
That mega league could produce a number of quality teams, which would benefit St. Joe's and La Salle. But it won't have the cache of the Big East and the best non-FBS basketball conference will also lack the television dollars that the big four conferences enjoy because of football.
