Flyers' Ben Holmstrom suffers injury playing for AHL Phantoms

From CSN Philly: Ben Holmstrom, who has played seven career games for the Philadelphia Flyers, will need knee surgery after an injury suffered in AHL play during the lockout.

Flyers prospect and Phantoms captain Ben Holmstrom is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right knee on Dec. 20 at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced Thursday.

Holmstrom left the ice during the second period of the Phantoms' 4-3 shootout win over the Syracuse Crunch on Dec. 8. The extent of his injury remains unknown.
