BCS Rankings Week 10: Oregon Ducks Take Top Spot For The First Time In School History

For the first time in school history, the Oregon Ducks have topped the BCS ranking. Oregon leapfrogged Auburn after the Ducks beat USC on the road and the Tigers won at Ole Miss. Auburn was not the only team to drop this week despite a win, Boise State was leapfrogged by TCU. Also jumping up the rankings were the Utah Utes who jumped up from eight to fifth. Utah will play TCU next week in a game that will have major implications for the ranks.

As SBNation’s Andy Hutchins points out, the flip flop at the top doesn’t actually mean a whole lot for Oregon or Auburn. If both win out, they’ll still face each other in the National Title game either way. Don’t tell that to Ducks fans though, because being number one when you’ve never been there before has to feel really good and pretty meaningful to boot.
