Penn State Vs. Nebraska Final: Nittany Lions Comeback Falls Short, Lose 17-14

After a miserable week of off the field issues Penn State nearly pulled off huge comeback victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers today, but ultimately fell short, losing 17-14.

The Nittany Lions trailed 17-0 with 20 minutes remaining when running back Stephfon Green had a five yard rushing touchdown to cut the lead to 10. Green added another rushing touchdown with five and change remaining in the fourth to cut the lead to three. The Penn State defense forced Taylor Martinez and the Cornhuskers into a three and out the following possession, giving the Penn State offense an opportunity to win or tie the game with 3:52 left. Unfortunately, the Nittany Lions running backs were stuffed on second and one, third and one, and fourth and one on three consecutive players, turning the ball over on downs and essentially ending the game.

Penn State actually out-gained the Cornhuskers, but crucial mistakes like not being able to convert in short-yardage situations and a missed field goal cost them a chance to win the game.

This was the Nittany Lions final regular season home game this season. They travel to Columbus to face the Buckeyes next week.
