Joe Paterno Press Conference Cancelled By President Graham Spanier

Penn State University President Graham Spanier cancelled Joe Paterno's weekly press conference.

Penn State Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno was scheduled to hold his weekly Tuesday press conference at 12:30 p.m. ET this afternoon. The university specified "football only questions" questions, likely hoping that would be enough to shift focus from the Sandusky investigation.

The Sandusky scandal has garnered national attention and has negatively impacted the university. Just 45 minutes away from the start time, university President Graham Spanier has cancelled the presser. No word on the reasoning but Joe Paterno was quoted as being "disappointed" at the decision.

This would be the first time that Paterno would be speaking publicly in front of the media and put in a position where he could be questioned about the situation. The university avoids a press conference where the face of the football program could be crucified by the media who want answers from Joe Pa. There is no word on if or when the press conference will be rescheduled.
